Important Notes Before Updating
Always create a backup of your website before updating WordPress or the theme.
Although updating the theme does not delete your content (such as pages, posts, media, plugin settings etc.), it is still strongly recommended to keep a backup. Unexpected issues such as database corruption or server errors can occasionally occur.
For more information about backups, refer to the WordPress Codex article: WordPress Backups.
You may use any backup plugin such as UpdraftPlus to create a full backup of your website before updating.
For better safety, keep a copy of your backups in a separate location, such as cloud storage or your local computer.
Backup the Following Items
Make sure you create backups of:
- Database
- Uploads folder (images and media files)
- Custom CSS (if added)
- Child Theme (if you are using one)
Clear Cache
After updating the theme, clear all caches to avoid loading outdated files.
Clear the following if applicable:
- Browser cache
- Server cache
- Plugin cache
Important
Avoid modifying the main theme files directly. If you need to customize theme files, always use a child theme.
Please note that support may not be provided for update-related issues if the main theme files have been modified.
Refer to the Child Theme documentation for more details.
